INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1. MAKE HALF SQUARE TRIANGLES
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the Fabric 1 squares. Place the square of Fabric 1 right sides together with a square of Fabric 2. Sew ¼” away from each side of the marked line. Trim apart on the line and press. Trim to square.
STEP 2. MAKE MITTEN THUMB
Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the following Fabric 1 pieces. Sew along the diagonally drawn lines as shown on the left. Trim ¼” from the sewn line and press open.
STEP 3. MAKE CENTER STAR
MAKE 4-AT-A-TIME FLYING GEESE.
Draw a diagonal line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the Fabric 4 squares. Align two of the squares on opposite corners on the 2¾ (4¼” or 5¾”) squares with right sides together. Sew ¼ inch on each side of the drawn line. Cut along the drawn line to form two units. Press open. Place a Fabric 4 square with a diagonal line drawn on the back with right sides together on the newly formed units so that the drawn line is going from the section of fabric pressed out to the corner of the unit (see the illustration below).
Sew ¼ inch on each side of the drawn line. Cut along the drawn line to form two units. Press open.
STEP 4. ASSEMBLE BLOCK
Join block units as shown.
