CHEF'S NOTES:
Press and starch all fabrics prior to cutting. Use a scant 1/4" seam.

INGREDIENTS
From fabric 1, cut:
{B} (1) 4½” square
{C} (2) 5½” squares
From fabric 2, cut:
{A} (20) 1½” squares
From fabric 3, cut:
{B} (4) 4½” squares
{C} (2) 5½” squares
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP 1. MAKE QUARTER SQUARE TRIANGLES
Mark the diagonals on back of 5½” Fabric 3 squares.Pair each Fabric 3 square with a Fabric A square. Sew a scant ¼” seam on either side of marked line. Cut on marked line, press to the dark fabric, creating four half square triangles.
Nest two half square triangle units, right sides together, with background touching Fabric A, mark the new diagonal going perpindicular to the sewn seam
Once again sew using a scant ¼” seam on either side of marked line. Cut along marked line, press seam
open, creating four quarter square triangle units
Trim to 4½” square.
STEP 2. MAKE SNOWBALLS
Mark the diagonals on all 1½” squares. Place face down on corner of 4½” square. Sew on marked line. Press away from center after cutting ¼” away from sewn line. Repeat to make 5 snowballs units - 1 with Fabric 1 and 4 with Fabric 2 as the center.
STEP 3. ASSEMBLE BLOCK
Layout the block as shown. Sew together and press well.
